Western Water is committed to enhancing our services and providing customers with innovative technology, water-saving devices, and water efficiency programs.

Recently, Western Water upgraded its residential water meters to “smart” meters. When paired with our new automated metering infrastructure (AMI) technology, these meters provide Western Water access to near real-time water usage data in hourly, weekly, and monthly intervals. This technology helps Western Water empower customers with tools to monitor water usage, identify leaks, and maximize water use efficiency.

What are the benefits of Smart Meters?

Smart Meters provide access to near real-time water usage data, making it easier for customers to take control of their water use by proactively identifying leaks and maximizing water use efficiency. How can you see the information being gathered by your Smart Meter?

Western Water will soon launch a water use portal so customers can directly access their water use data. Sign up to be part of the test group for the new water use portal. 

Are Smart Meters safe?

According to the American Cancer Society, “Because the amount of radiofrequency (RF) radiation you could be exposed to from a smart meter is much less than what you could be exposed to from a cell phone, it is very unlikely that living in a house with a smart meter increases risk of cancer.”
