What will be discussed at the Rate Information Sessions?
The upcoming Rate Information Sessions will cover the following key topics:
- Explanation of the proposed rate adjustment: Why the adjustment is being proposed and how it can be implemented.
- How the rate increase will impact customers: What changes customers can expect and how the increase will be phased in over the four-year term.
- Q&A: Attending our Rate Information Session is the perfect opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Key priorities behind the adjustment:
Just like at home, our costs are going up—from groceries and gas to the services you rely on every day. For Western Water, it’s electricity, treatment chemicals, construction materials, and labor.
We also face stricter state and federal regulations, which require continual upgrades to meet water quality standards.
One of our biggest cost drivers is the water itself. Western Water purchases a large portion of its water from suppliers like Metropolitan Water District of Southern California—and those prices have more than doubled in the past 15 years.
As supply costs go up, so does the cost to treat, pump, and deliver that water to your home. That’s why rate adjustments are necessary—to keep up with rising costs while continuing to deliver the level of service you expect.
It is important for customers to stay informed and engaged, as these decisions directly impact their water service and future water reliability. Participation in the meetings ensures that customer voices are heard and considered in the decision-making process.
