Henry J. Mills Water Treatment Plant Shutdown

Shutdown dates: January 30 through February 5, 2026

From Friday, January 30, through Tuesday, February 5, 2026, the Henry J. Mills Water Treatment Plant will be offline for planned maintenance. The plant is part of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s (MWD) system, which provides much of the water that Western Water customers rely on.

To minimize customer impacts, water agencies intentionally plan these types of shutdowns during the cooler months of the year when water demands are usually lower, and irrigation needs are minimal.

Please note: Tap water will remain safe and available for all customers, but resources will be limited.

Western Water is asking customers affected by the shutdown to conserve water.

Due to limited water supplies during the shutdown, Western Water is requesting that customers impacted by the shutdown conserve water, especially outdoors, throughout the week.

Who should conserve water from during this time?

  • Western Water’s retail water customers in the Riverside retail service area.
  • HOAs, park/median irrigation customers, and construction potable users.

What to do

  • Complete any necessary irrigation before January 30 and turn off outdoor watering during the shutdown.
  • Limit nonessential water use (e.g., car washing, filling pools).
  • Continue using water indoors as needed.

Additional restrictions for High-Use Customers

Western Water will temporarily pause irrigation-only service and restrict potable water use for outside construction from January 30 to February 3, 2026.

This applies to:

  • HOAs
  • Parks and medians
  • Construction potable accounts
