Show the region that using less water can be beautiful!
WHAT - The sixth Annual Western Water-wise Landscape Contest is underway. Participants from throughout the region, from Riverside to Chino Hills, San Jacinto Valley to Lake Elsinore, can enter their efficient landscapes that show how “Less Water Can be Beautiful.” Cash awards will be given to the winning water-efficient landscapes.
First Place: $1,000
Second Place: $800
Third Place: $600
The water agencies listed below are also providing an award of $500 to the winning participant who resides in each of their service areas, and who is not selected to receive one of the three major awards above.
Participating agencies include cities of Corona and Upland; Eastern Municipal Water District; Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District; Inland Empire Utilities Agency; Jurupa Community Services District; Rancho California Water District; Riverside Public Utilities; San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District; and Western Municipal Water District.

For additional ideas, visit Western’s water efficiency demonstration garden, Landscapes Southern California StyleSM, located at 450 E. Alessandro Blvd. in Riverside. The garden is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHY - Water use efficiency is important, especially during times of drought. “With ongoing dry conditions, it’s imperative that we use water wisely,” said Pam Pavela, Western’s water use efficiency specialist. “The contest shows that being efficient, saving money and having beautiful landscapes can all happen at the same time.”
