Stockton Pledges to Focus on Water Reliability for Customers
Riverside, Calif. – Robert Stockton, a long-time Riverside resident, has joined the Western Municipal Water District Board of Directors, taking over the seat held by Director Charles Field who retired from the board last in September.
“In my first term on the board, I’m looking forward to focusing on building relationships with local, state and federal stakeholders in order to get the word out about water, the drought and the importance of a local water supply,” said Stockton. “I represent the ratepayers in my District, and they want to see transparent government with attention to bringing water-reliability projects to our region that not only provide them a direct benefit but also demonstrate a good use of public funds.”
He represents Division 1, which includes a portion of the city of Riverside located north of Highway 91 extending to the San Bernardino County line.
Mr. Stockton, a seasoned civil engineer, has more than 31 years of experience designing infrastructure projects. He currently is the principal-in-charge at Rick Engineering’s Riverside Office – a position which he’s held for the past 27 years. As the principal-in-charge, he supervises office staff and oversees the coordination of client projects. Stockton added that his experience working on public agency infrastructure projects and his time as a board member with Riverside Public Utilities provide valuable insight and will assist him in setting sound policy, which will benefit the region.
Actively involved in his community, Director Stockton is the incoming chairperson for the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. He has also served on the Riverside Public Utilities Board as well as the Path of Life Ministries Board, the Riverside YWCA Board and the California Baptist University School of Engineering Advisory Committee. Director Stockton has also served as a planning commissioner for the city of Riverside and is a past chair of Leadership Riverside. Currently, he is the chair of the Monday Morning Group’s Environmental Committee.
In 2012, Gov. Brown appointed him to the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. The 15-member board regulates the civil engineering, land surveying, geology and geophysics industries.
He holds a B.S. in construction engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Additionally, he is a registered civil engineer in California and Arizona and has his LEED accreditation.
