[ARCHIVED] Smart Irrigation Month Offers Savings for Western Customers

Smart Irrigation Month

Riverside, CA – July is Smart Irrigation Month, and Western is encouraging customers to take advantage of some great deals to make their irrigation systems smarter.

“July is a peak month for water use,” said Craig Miller, Western’s deputy general manager. “Western wants to remind everyone that small upgrades to your irrigation system can result in big summer savings!”

Irrigation systems get less and less efficient over time as various pieces wear out. Why not take advantage of one of the summer’s best deals and replace old sprinkler nozzles with new high-efficiency nozzles?

This deal is not only one of the best deals of the summer, it’s also one of the quickest! All customers have to do to get up to 25 free high-efficiency nozzles is to visit freesprinklernozzles.com. Customers will enter their information, watch several short, informational videos, print a voucher for 25 free nozzles, and then pick up their nozzles at a local irrigation store.

These nozzles are the smart choice because they produce less misting and fogging and put more water on the lawn instead of into the air or onto the street. Since water running off customers’ property wastes money (and is prohibited), customers can save water and money just by upgrading their nozzles.

Another smart choice is to upgrade an old irrigation timer to a new “smart timer.” Weather-based irrigation controllers (WBICs) take daily measurements of the local weather and automatically adjust how long they water so outdoor landscape gets just what it needs throughout the year. Western customers can get an $80 rebate on a WBIC by visiting www.socalwatersmart.com.

Western customers who need some help with their irrigation systems can also take advantage of another great deal: free landscape evaluations. Western will send an irrigation expert to customers’ homes to help customers make their system as efficient as possible. Western customers can call 951.571.7100 to schedule an evaluation.

The drought hasn’t gone away and if customers want to maintain a beautiful landscape and stay within their budget, customers still need to be efficient. Taking advantage of these hot summer deals during Smart Irrigation Month is definitely the smart move.

Western Municipal Water District provides water supply, wastewater disposal and water resource management to the public in a safe, reliable, environmentally sensitive and financially responsible manner.
