Western selects Ryan Shaw to support the District’s progressive water resources department
Riverside, CA – Western Municipal Water District has named Ryan Shaw, a seasoned engineer with regional environmental management experience, as their new deputy director of water resources.
“I am delighted to welcome Ryan to Western’s Water Resources team. At his previous jobs in local government, Ryan proved his ability to successfully implement comprehensive water resource plans within the region, and his commitment to natural resource management, knowledge of local water issues and strategic groundwater planning will contribute to the greater success of the District’s future,” said Tim Barr, Western’s director of water resources.
As deputy director of water resources, Shaw is responsible for the day-to-day management of Western’s water supply projects. He will act as a strategist for Western’s water management and water use efficiency programs, and he will conduct statistical projections for existing and future water supplies. Shaw will provide hands-on support to the director of water resources and water resources team in the execution and expansion of all proposed regional, state and federal programs.

By supporting our water resources team, I will continue focusing on protecting local water resources with thorough supply planning and closely monitoring of new water policies or exchange agreements.”
Shaw has extensive experience in facilitating state-wide policy and regional water supply planning for the local watershed. Prior to Western, He was the water resources manager for the Ontario Municipal Utilities Company and also worked as a senior associate engineer for the Planning and Environmental Compliance Department at the Inland Empire Utilities Agency.
Shaw holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental and resource science from the University of California at Davis, and master’s degree in environmental engineering management from the University of Southern California.
