North Well
At Western Water, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional service, fostering trust, and providing value to our valued customers. We are actively addressing the ongoing water discoloration challenges in your area's groundwater system. To achieve this, we have initiated a comprehensive system-wide cleaning project, employing various measures such as pipeline scouring, enhanced water quality testing, and interior pipeline inspections. Furthermore, we are constructing an advanced wellhead filtration system at the North Well, located at the intersection of Vineyard Parkway and Kentucky Derby Way, to enhance our water supply's quality.
Recently, we have received an increased number of reports from customers regarding water discoloration. While some degree of coloration is typical in groundwater systems, we have taken proactive steps by promptly decommissioning the well responsibly. It will remain out of service until early 2024.
The implementation of the advanced wellhead treatment project will commence by removing the pumping equipment at the North Well. Starting the week of June 19, 2023, Western Water will begin preliminary construction activities to prepare for the removal of the pump, making way for the filtration system. All construction work will be carried out during daylight hours. On-site activities will be intermittent until August and will increase in September 2023. During the first week of work, customers near the well site may notice the presence of a large crane. We want to assure you that the construction activities will not cause any disruption to your water services.
To gain a deeper understanding of the situation regarding discolored water, we have conducted extensive sampling, monitoring, and analysis with the assistance of our in-house water quality experts. In addition, we have sought the expertise of nationally recognized water quality engineers, who have confirmed that the water from the North Well complies with all state and federal standards. Nevertheless, our commitment to providing exceptional service remains unwavering, and we are fully dedicated to exploring every possible resolution while upholding the highest quality standards.
Our community's health and well-being are paramount to us, and we will continue to work diligently to ensure that the water remains safe, clean, and reliable. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to address any inquiries you may have.
